Kard documentation
Kard is spatial annotation, tasks, and a wiki for Unreal Engine — local-first and Unreal-native. Pin cards to actors, levels, or world positions, and manage them from a dashboard without ever leaving the editor.
Who it’s for
Section titled “Who it’s for”Kard is for Unreal Engine developers who want to track work and notes right next to the thing they describe. It runs entirely inside the editor and is filed under the Editor plugin category.
What Kard does
Section titled “What Kard does”- Tasks, Notes, and Pages. Three sections for tracking work, jotting notes, and writing longer wiki-style pages.
- Spatial annotation. Anchor cards to actors, levels, or raw world positions; they surface as markers in the viewport.
- A unified dashboard. Create, filter, assign, and triage cards from one panel — viewport optional.
- Viewport ↔ dashboard sync. Click a viewport marker to jump to its card; hover a card to highlight its actor in the viewport.
- Markdown and wikilinks. Write rich text in Notes and Pages, and link cards with
[[Target]]wikilinks. - Engine-object contexts. Right-click an actor, level, or Blueprint to create a card bound to it.
Where your data lives
Section titled “Where your data lives”Every card is a standard Unreal asset (.uasset) in your project’s Content folder. Cards are version-controlled like any other asset, and nothing leaves your machine — there’s no account or server to set up.
A hosted cloud/SaaS sync backend is in development for a future release. This release is local-only.
A note on terminology
Section titled “A note on terminology”Kard organizes work into Tasks, Notes, and Pages, grouped into folders. The Tasks section also offers a board (swim-lane) view for cards.
