Keyboard shortcuts

Every Kard keyboard shortcut, grouped by where it fires. Each row lists the action, its default chord (Combination of keys), and any notes about scope.

How shortcuts work

Shortcuts are customizable. Rebind any chord in Edit → Editor Preferences → Keyboard Shortcuts, under the Kard Plugin context. Your overrides persist across sessions.
Some commands ship without a default chord. They appear as — below. The command still exists — assign it a chord in Editor Preferences to use it.
Scope decides where a chord fires. A global chord works anywhere in the editor; the rest need keyboard focus inside the Kard tab (or a specific view within it). See each table’s notes.

Chords are shown for Windows. On macOS, Ctrl appears as Cmd.

Global

These fire anywhere in the editor — the Kard tab does not need focus.

Focus the project search bar	`Ctrl+K`	Moves focus to Kard’s project-wide search.
Create a Level-anchored task at the cursor	—	No default chord. Available from the viewport right-click menu.
Create a Level-anchored note at the cursor	—	No default chord. Available from the viewport right-click menu.
Toggle Kard viewport badges and widgets	`Ctrl+Alt+Shift+K`	Master on/off for all in-viewport Kard visuals.
Show Kard in Game View / PIE	`Ctrl+Shift+K`	Keeps Kard badges visible after pressing G or in Play-In-Editor.

Container-scoped — acts on the visible Kard

These fire when keyboard focus is anywhere inside the Kard tab. Kard commands act on the Kard you can see (the open drawer, otherwise the foregrounded tab’s Kard); navigation commands act on the Kard panel itself.

Save the visible Kard	`Ctrl+S`	Commits the active edit, or flushes the Kard to disk if you’re not editing.
Save and close the visible Kard	`Ctrl+Alt+S`	Saves, then closes its tab (or the drawer if the drawer is active).
Save all dirty Kards	`Ctrl+Shift+S`	Writes every unsaved Kard to disk in one go.
Edit the description	`Ctrl+E`	Enters description edit mode on the visible Kard.
Focus the comment composer	`Ctrl+/`	Moves focus to the comment box for the visible Kard.
Copy a link to the Kard	`Ctrl+Shift+C`	Copies a `[[link]]` — to the focused row if there is one, otherwise the visible Kard.
Open the command palette	`Ctrl+P` (also `Ctrl+Shift+P`)	Fuzzy-search every command, recent Kard, or folder.
Open Kard Settings	`Ctrl+,`	Opens the Kard Settings panel.
Toggle the sidebar	`Ctrl+B`	Collapses or expands the folder sidebar.
Toggle KardAI	`Ctrl+Shift+K`	Opens the KardAI companion. Only active when the optional KardAI feature is enabled.

Switch the Kard panel between its sections. These fire when focus is inside the Kard tab.

Row actions — acts on the focused row

These fire when a list or tree row has focus inside the Kard tab. They do nothing while you’re typing in a text box.

Expand / collapse the row	`Space`	Toggles the focused tree row.
Rename	`F2`	Inline-renames the focused Kard or folder.
Delete	`Delete`	Deletes the focused Kard or folder (or the whole selection when several are selected).
Duplicate	`Ctrl+D`	Duplicates the focused Kard (or the whole selection).
Open	`Enter`	Opens the focused row in the current tab or drawer.
Open in a new tab	`Ctrl+Shift+Enter`	Opens the focused row in a new workspace tab.

Quick actions (task Kards only)

Single-key shortcuts that open a picker for the focused task Kard. They apply to the whole selection when several Kards are selected, and only work on task Kards — on a note or page they stay inert. They do nothing while you’re typing in a text box.

Assign	`A`	Opens the assignee picker.
Set priority	`P`	Opens the priority picker.
Set status	`S`	Opens the status picker (from the folder’s workflow).
Set category	`C`	Opens the category picker.
Move to folder	`M`	Opens the move-to-folder picker.
Add tag	—	No default chord; the tag picker UI is not available yet.

View-scoped — acts on the focused view

These fire only when the matching view has keyboard focus.

Action	Shortcut	Scope / notes
Focus the local filter	`Ctrl+F` (also `/`)	Moves focus to the active view’s filter box.
New task	`Ctrl+N`	Creates a task in the active folder and opens it (Tasks view).
Paste image as attachment	`Ctrl+V`	Pastes a clipboard image onto the visible Kard (detail view); falls through to plain paste when the clipboard has no image.
Capture viewport as attachment	`Ctrl+Shift+V`	Captures the active level-editor viewport onto the visible Kard (detail view).
Post comment	`Enter`	Submits the comment being composed. The composer also posts on `Enter`.
